Fan coil- you've heard the term before, but do you really know what a fan coil is? As we are in-between heating and air conditioning season, we wanted to focus this month's product of the month on a piece of HVAC equipment that is used year-round.

According to Bryant®, a Fan Coil is "an indoor component of an air conditioner or heat pump system, used in place of a furnace and evaporator coil, to change the refrigerant from a gas to a liquid (or vice-versa) and blow air over the coil to cool or heat your home." A fan coil, commonly referred to as an air handler, lives in the indoor unit and contains the fan and the heating/cooling coil. It is important to note that each coil is designed for a specific type of refrigerant (Puron®, R-410A, R-22) that must be matched with the appropriate heat pump or air conditioner. In addition to being paired with the correct heat pump and air conditioner, there are various types of fan coils to help meet your every need. This list of needs includes but is not limited to:

  • Energy Management
  • Humidity Management
  • Airflow Management
  • Comfort Management
  • Warranty
