With Memorial Day Weekend just a few days away, everyone has one thing on their mind- SUMMER! While summer makes us think of the beach, pool, BBQs, sunshine and warm weather, it also reminds us of the high utility bills we tend to see at this time of the year. As we want to help you save money on your utility bills, we have compiled a list of Energy Efficiency Tips for Summer. These tips include, but are not limited to:

  • Reducing the temperature of your water heater from 140° to 120°
  • Upgrading to a Programmable Thermostat
  • Checking and changing your filters regularly to ensure your HVAC system does not overwork
  • Scheduling a seasonal air conditioning maintenance check to ensure that your HVAC system is running effectively and efficiently
  • Keeping the blinds or drapes in your house or office building closed during the peak afternoon hours when the sun is at its strongest
  • Sealing any leaks and disconnections with your HVAC’s duct work
  • Sealing any leaks in the windows, doors and floors and adding proper insulation to your attic space
  • Turning off exhaust fans in the kitchen and bathroom after 20 minutes of use
  • Considering purchasing high-efficiency products if you are in the market for a new HVAC system or equipment

All of these tips are easy to follow and implement into your routine, and they will save you money in the long run. Don’t let your utility bills put a damper on your summertime this year. Bob Cermignano Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc. is here to help you enjoy a comfortable and care-free summer!
